IEEE Student Branch TU-Chemnitz :
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is the world’s largest professional association of technical professionals. Its objectives are the educational and technical advancement of electrical and electronic engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering and allied disciplines.
We are one of 15 student branches alone in Germany. As IEEE student branch we organise various events to promote exchange between students, and representatives of research and industry.
The foundation of the IEEE Student Branch of the Technical University of Chemnitz was initiated by Prof.O.Kanoun in 2014. Which she serves as a channeller for today. Together with her team, she has received several awards and honors, such as the international honor for excellence in her field on the National Womens Day on the 13th anniversary of the founding of the IEEE. August 2015 in Tunisia and the appointment as Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society in 2016. In 2018 she was honoured with the Faculty Course Award by the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society.
Prof. O. Kanoun has been classified among the world top 2% scientist in 2019 and 2020 (standardized citation indicators, news of TU Chemnitz). She studied electrical engineering and information technology at the Technical University of Munich until 1995. In 1996, she began working as a research assistant at the Technical University of Munich and the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, where she received her doctorate in 2001. Her doctorate on the subject of calibration-free temperature measurement at the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich was honored with the research prize of the Arbeitskreis der Hochschullehrer für Messtechnik (AHMT e. V.).
From 2002 to 2006 she founded the impedance spectroscopy group at the Institute for Measurement and Automation Technology at the University of the German Armed Forces Munich and habilitated abroad. During this time, she established the German IM Chapter of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society, which was awarded the Best Chapter Award of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society in 2006
From 2006 to 2007, she worked as a deputy professor for measurement technology at the University of Kassel , from where she was appointed to the chair of measurement and sensor technology at Chemnitz University of Technology in 2007. At the beginning she initiated the International Workshop on Impedance Spectroscopy (IWIS), which has since established itself as an annual international event.
